Half a Million Views

Real-time

Thankyou! Thankyou! Many, many thanks to each and everyone of you, I couldn't have done it without you lovely people! Earlier today my blog ticked over a momentous milestone; 500,000 page views, that's right, half a million clicks!

I posted my first blog five years ago in August, 2012 but posted just four blogs that year as we prepared for life 'Out There' on the road. 2013 was really the year it all began and from there it took just over three and half years (43 months) to reach the 250,000 mark on July 30th last year. This means that the blog has had an astonishing quarter of a million views in just 13 months. Absolutely amazing! I am so grateful to you all for following us along on our travels and encouraging me with your comments, both on the blog, Facebook, travel forums and when I happen to meet you in person. I wonder where the next 500,000 clicks will find us.

And because I can't do a post without at least one photo here's one from our recent travel through the Lewis Pass which is part of the Alternative Route, the one and only road between Picton and Christchurch at the moment and until the earthquake damaged coastal highway is repaired.

A beautiful mountain tarn at the start of the St James Walkway at the top of the Lewis Pass.

Ok, Dad, you can stop clicking now!

  3. Wow! Congratulations! Here's to a half million more. The opposite of Carol, I live half a world away in the UK, so your blogs give me a vicarious glimpse of animals, places and and a history that I will never get a chance to experience in person. You are a real ambassador for New Zealand, Shellie, and I have more than once sent people to your blog. It has been such a pleasure this past couple of years to watch the South Island come alive through your amusing and sometimes amazing posts. Cheers.

    1. Thank you Kathy, I love that you get to see a lot more of New Zealand than many kiwis do. Your support is much appreciated.

  4. Have been following you both for nearly 3 years, You have indeed grown, it used to be rare we would see a close up photo of David, the last one was holding the little Owl. Shellie is still a little camera shy.
Many thanks for the ongoing inspirations with your camera, your writing, tremendous researching ability and your kiwi humour. All of which is to be admired. Half million more....I have no idea how your blog will change, but I know it will be good.
Once again hats off to the team at Two go Tiki Touring.
    Enjoy

  5. It seems a long time ago when you two decided to sell up to travel around NZ. I remember going to the motorhome show and looking around inside the American 5th wheelers with you while you made up your minds as to which brand, model etc would suit your travels. It appears you made the right choice and you have covered a fair bit of ground since, particularly the South Island. We have enjoyed reading your blogs and used them and you via text when we traveled south last year and caught up with you both to visit Poolburn Dam. Your blogs have been great for people travelling NZ, and those who cant travel, and those overseas who want to see NZ but may never travel here. Congratulations on reaching the half mil mark though I don't think Ken deserves the credit......lol.....but every little helps and his finger will be back clicking to get you to the mil mark............Aunty Pam & Uncle Gerald :)

    1. Many thanks Jenny & Robin for your long time support of the blog, it's very much appreciated. And thanks Jenny, I also know you appreciate more than most the amount of time that goes into producing a blog. Even when you love the job, it can be a tie.

  9. Congratulations Shellie & keep up the good work - I always read your posts now. We are planning to go to Otago next March & end up at Warbirds over Wanaka. I will be reviewing your posts from that area, but I have already kept a few. All the best to both of you for whatever the next years bring. Cheers - "Melanie from Tauranga".

    1. Hi Melanie, lovely to hear from you and many thanks for your good wishes. I'm pleased the blogs will help you out down south. We won't be at Warbirds this time round, although we very nearly did decide to go. I was offered free Silver Passes! But we'll be in the North Island so I had to let them go.
