Newsflash! Guess what? I'm a winner again. Well not quite the winner of the grand prize but a pretty good category winner all the same. Yeehaa!
You'll recall I won an ipad a few months ago? Well just before Easter I received an email from MetService (NZ's official weather forecaster) to say that I had won a prize in their recent 'Weather Photo' competition (this link is to their Facebook page announcing the winners). I was tickled pink that one of my photos had been chosen and it was a huge surprise as there were quite a number of entries and some amazing photos.
Obviously it helps that I love taking weather shots and also because of our travel, I'm able to shoot photos from all over the country. I entered several in the general weather category and, just because I'm the Queen of Sunrises (and sunsets), a few more in the Sunrise/Sunset category.
Which is how I won a $1000 Resene voucher in the 'Resene Colourful sunrise/sunset category' with this photo of sunrise at Hinahina Reserve in the Catlins.
The grand prize of $1000 of travel would have been a lot easier to spend, not that I'm ungrateful at all, I just found it quite ironic given that we have no fixed abode. How the heck am I going to spend a thousand bucks on paint?
Mind you $1000 of travel is a bit funny too- as if I don't spend nearly every day travelling. So, if you see the flashiest 5th-wheeler in the west passing by you'll know it's us. Seriously though, they do have interior furnishings so maybe the inside of the van is going to get a make-over.
So now I'm off to buy a Lotto. Things happen in threes, right?
Tiki Tour - New Zealand slang
1. a sight-seeing journey with no particular destination in mind.
2. taking the scenic route to a destination.
3. to wander aimlessly.

News Flash- Winner!
Real-time
Yeehaa! I have some exciting news to tell you! Well, it might not be that exciting for you but I'm extra excited and super thrilled because I received a call yesterday from Netspeed, our internet provider, to let me know that I was their winner in a competition they recently ran on their Facebook page. I don't enter too many competitions and very rarely win anything but I struck the jackpot this time! And all I had to do was tag someone on their Facebook page; easy peasey.
And what did I win? I won the latest 12.9" 64GB Apple iPad Pro worth $1,519.00! How awesome is that? I don't have an iPad, I do most of my work on my laptop and have my smartphone for general surfing etc. I don't see that changing too much but I know David has had his eye on the latest model iPad for awhile and especially since he recently started watching movies on his old one. I have a feeling I might not see quite as much of this prize as I think. And I don't mind- I'm just going to milk it for all it's worth in the meantime- it's lucky that I have a computer geek for a hubby, he'll be able to set it up for me which will earn him lots of brownie points that can be exchanged for movie time!
So thankyou very much Netspeed, you made my day....no, in fact, as I said to them when they called, you made my month! I think it's some sort of karma though, because I recommend Netspeed to anyone and everyone at every opportunity I get. Netspeed has been a God send for us and has opened up our little world on the road.
If you'd like to know more about Netspeed, here's my blog I did on them when we first joined up early last year- Into the Future with Netspeed
And if you'd like to hear some of the voice recording of when Netspeed phoned to let me know I was a winner it's here on their Facebook Page, a pinned post at the top (it may have gone if you're reading this is in a week or so)
ETA- It's arrived!

Walking On A Dream- Part 2
Finally I have caught up-to-date. And it’s just as well as it’s time to hit the road again after our extended stay with the family in Winton.
A few weeks ago the second part of my article was published in the latest NZMCA ’The Motor Caravanner’ Magazine. Not only that but it was a huge surprise to find out that I had also won the Summer Photo Competition with this shot of David on the Key Summit Walk overlooking the Hollyford Valley on the Milford Road in Fiordland. And the prize was a $500 voucher to be spent with a Motor Caravanner advertiser of my choice. Sweet!
Below is the second part of the article, if you’d like to see the first one, you’ll find it here. Although this one has been titled “Taking the Scenic Route’. Remember to click on the page for a larger size if you have trouble reading the article.
Unfortunately this is a copy of a pdf file and the words may be a littler hard to read
Can you see the grasshopper in the photo below? His camouflage is so good that he fooled the layout artist in the page above….
If you'd like to see some more photos (and read more) about each of the places in the article here are the links to their original blog posts-
Kiwi Burn Walk, Snowdon Forest, Mavora Lakes, Southland
Key Summit, Milford Road, Fiordland
Pupu Hydro Walkway, Takaka, Golden Bay
Catlins River Walk, Catlins, Southland
Sawcut Gorge, Marlborough
